- Is "WB emulation" a kludge, or is it good enough that I won't notice the
- difference? Also, how about Dopus 5's Workbench replacement (emulation?)?
-
- : >:Is the speed of the display significantly affected by the size of

-
- : In some way,, all gfxcards use the same chip as PC gfxcards, and they use chunkypixels.
- : So the speed of 16 vs 256 colors doesn't differ much. But of course is 16.7 millions color
- : slower.
-
- So I can expect respectable performance with up to 256 colors?
-

-
- : Increased resulotions means more work so it is a bit slower.
-
- Is "a bit slower" acceptable? I know this is a subjective question, but how do
- YOU feel about it?
-
- : >:What about Zorro III/Buster upgrade?
-
- : Most card recognice Zorro III (Picasso is Zorro II only).
-
- But what about the rev 11 Buster? Is this upgrade necessary for a Z-III
- gfx board?
-

-
- : AGA-Games!
-
- So, in other words - I wouldn't be missing anything :-)
-
- : Oh, one more impoirtant thing. You need a descent monitor. I think a 1084 isn't enough.
- : I have a 15" MAG multisync and it's great. A3000 is the only AMiga that can play games
- : and demos on a SVGA-monitor because it's scandoubler.
-
- : My monitor scans vertical 50 to 100 hz, and horizontal 30 to 64 Khz.
- : I use 800x600 with 256 colors in WB (71 HZ 44 Khz), and the screen is rocksteady.
- : If you install CyberGfx software then all programs that use the screendatabase
- : can use this resolutions.
-
- : Your 1084 can only handle vertical 50 and 60 hz in horizontal 15.5 Khz
- : (doubled 31 Khz) and thats not enough to exploit a gfxcard to its limits.
-
- I'm currently using a 14" CTX SVGA monitor. It'll probably do most of what I
- need. I have the 1084 on the A500 (so I don't have to fight with my kids over
- my A3000).
-
- Thanks for the info - I feel much more confident that I won't be disappointed.
